In this project, fiberglass reinforcement and fiberglass rebars were used during the mechanical installation of concrete with a concrete paver. fiberglass mats were not used in the entire project. Part of the pavement has been poured with iron reinforcement. As a result, the advantages of the fiberglass reinforcement were clearly noticeable. This was already noticeable during the preparation of the project. The iron reinforcement was brought in by a truck, which got help from a crane to unload it. Count the costs yourself, the truck + driver, the crane + driver and the time it takes to lay the reinforcement.
The fiberglass reinforcement and the fiberglass rebars were brought in by a van with a trailer behind it. On this trailer was about 690 square meters of fiberglass reinforcement that was unloaded within about 15 minutes with 2 people. Saving the crane and the truck will therefore immediately bring in money. The reinforcement was then placed by the concrete crew itself. To give a picture you can easily lift 4 meshes of 6 square meters with 2 persons. The reinforcement used here was 3 meters in length, 2 meters in width with a thickness of 10 and 12 millimeters. This way of working not only results in cost savings, but also a reduction in emissions and thus a positive contribution to the CO2 reduction.
