For a project in Turnhout, Belgium, 4000 fiberglass dowels and 350 fiberglass rebars were delivered.
The load transfer of the joints between the different concrete slabs has also been tested here. It has been investigated what the load transfer of steel compared to fiberglass is like. This was done with the so-called falling weight test. In this test a weight falls on the concrete slabs after which the vibrations are measured.
This is one of the last studies required to show that fiberglass does not stay on one plane compared to steel. On the contrary, Fiber Dowels wants to demonstrate that the use of fiberglass dowels and rebars offers numerous advantages over traditional materials.
