One of the advantages used on the Fiber Dowels website is the high tensile strength of fiberglass dowels. Why is this important and what are the advantages of this?
In our 2nd blog we like to tell you more about the high tensile strength and why this is so important!
First, we’re going to see what tensile strength exactly says about a material type: “The tensile strength of a material is a measure to classify the mechanical properties of a material. Or while the stress at which a material collapses under tensile load, expressed in N/mm. By placing (supporting) an object in two places and loading it in the middle, we determine the bending tensile strength of a material.
Concrete itself has a high compressive strength and low tensile strength. This is why a concrete construction is reinforced or Dowels or rebars are installed. These results on fiberglass dowels actually say that with a thinner fiberglass dowel the same tensile strength can be achieved as with a thicker steel dowel.
